Dr. Lyneia Richardson is the owner of Melanated Women’s Therapy, LLC. She is a healer dedicated to helping melanated women and mamas find ways to reconnect to their mind, body, and spirit. Following the birth of her first-born child, Dr. Richardson carved out a special niche focusing on women’s issues. Some of these concerns include: pre-conception, pregnancy, postpartum experiences, fertility and reproductive challenges, motherhood, relationships, and mental wellness.  She received her B.A. in psychology from North Carolina A & T State University, M.S. in mental health counseling from Johns Hopkins University, and her Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Richardson is also a licensed psychologist with over 12 years of experience providing therapy in a variety of clinical and community settings to a diverse populations. Her clinical approach is integrative and holistic, placing special emphasis on the therapeutic relationship, the interpersonal process and diversity. Her clinical and research interests have centered around women’s issues from the African diaspora and other melanated women in the context and at the intersections of race, gender, and mothering.

Based on her lived and professional experiences, Dr. Richardson acknowledges that mothering is not an individual experience but one of community—the village. Through Melanated Women’s Therapy, LLC. Dr. Richardson envisions helping to clients to find their village experience. She offers a sacred space where the stigma surrounding how one “should” feel or be following childbirth, being a mother, a wife, a woman etc. is broken. She is passionate about addressing the mental, physical, and spiritual needs of Black and Brown women by educating, encouraging, supporting, and helping all women win and reclaim themselves with passion and love.
